Activists and the Democratic Party presented by Our Revolution MA

There is a story about FDR’s response to A. Philip Randolph the leader of the Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters, the largest union of Afro-American workers in the 1940s. It sums up the essential idea of what we in ORMA call the “Inside/Outside Strategy”. After listening to their demands, and expressing his agreement, he is said to have remarked “Now go out there and make me do it.” We understand FDR to mean that success requires the combination of electoral activity with relentless, principled pressure by outside movements demanding that those inside make good on campaign commitments. This workshop will discuss the “Inside/Outside Strategy” (sometimes known as #DemEnter) to achieve change. What it is, Why it Matters, and How it works.
