Pride Worcester’s 2025 March, Supported by Worcester Indivisible!

by Worcester Indivisible

In September, Worcester Indivisible was honored to provide marshaling support for this year’s Pride Worcester March and Parade. The march drew an enthusiastic crowd of roughly 600 participants, representing a wide cross-section of our community, who came together to celebrate, affirm and advocate for LGBTQ+ visibility and equality.

It was a team effort.

Our team of about 10 volunteer marshals underwent a dedicated safety training a few days before the march. This preparation equipped every marshal with the knowledge and tools to manage crowd flow, communicate effectively, and respond to any issues with calm and coordinated action. The day of the event, the marshals worked smoothly together, helping guide marchers along the route, liaising with organizers, and ensuring the event remained welcoming and safe for all attendees.

In addition to marshaling, Worcester Indivisible contributed to the day’s celebrations by hosting a rainbow crosswalk chalking event two hours before the march began. This activity not only added vibrant, affirming visuals to the parade route but also created a meaningful opportunity for collaboration with the Worcester Police Department. Working together on this effort helped us strengthen relationships with local officers and reinforced a spirit of cooperation around ensuring the safety and inclusivity of the event.

We are proud to report that the march itself went off without a hitch. Participants were in high spirits throughout, and the feedback from marchers and event organizers was overwhelmingly positive. Organizers expressed particular gratitude for the professionalism and reliability of the marshaling team, noting how valuable it was to have trained volunteers handling safety and logistics support.

A joyful day, standing up for human rights

Unfortunately, a severe storm rolled in later in the afternoon, forcing the cancellation of much of the main event programming after the march. While that was a disappointment for many, the spirit of the day was not diminished. The march itself had already set the tone — a joyful, safe and unified celebration that reflected Worcester’s resilience and our shared commitment to standing up for justice and equality.

Overall, this was a highly successful action for Worcester Indivisible, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who volunteered their time and energy to make it possible. The Pride March demonstrated the power of collective care and preparation, and it reaffirmed the importance of Indivisible groups showing up in solidarity with our LGBTQ+ communities.

Worcester Indivisible sees a future where every person’s rights are protected, every voice is heard, and democracy thrives in Worcester and beyond.
